Minimum requirements for improving the safety and health protection of workers potentially at risks from explosive atmosphere

- Are measures taken to prevent the formation of an explosive atmosphere ?

- Are measures taken to mitigate the detrimental effects of an explosion (e.g. explosion valves) ?
- Is there an "explosion protection document" available ?
- Is this document updated regularly ?
- Did workers receive written instructions concerning potential explosive atmospheres ?
- Do these instructions also concern maintenance operations ?
- Do these instructions also concern maintenance operations by people from other companies ?
- Is a system of "permits to work" in place ?
- Have workers been trained concerning the risk of explosions ?
- Have workers appropriate anti-electrostatic clothing ?
- Is an emergency plan available ?
- Is the emergency plan shared with local public authorities ?
- Has the employer classified the places where explosive atmospheres may occur?
- Are these areas correctly marked and clearly indicated ?
- Is an acoustic or optical warning system installed ?
- Have workers safe escape facilities available ?
- Can installations be handled safely or shut down manually, in case of a power breakdown ?
