Minimum health and safety requirements regarding exposure of workers to the risks arising from physical agents (noise)

1. Does noise exposure exceed the limit value of 87 dB (A) after taking into account the effect of hearing protection?
2. When measured over the 8 hour working day, is exposure above 85 dB (A)? (the upper action threshold)
2.1 Is the peak action level of 137 dB(lin) exceeded?
3. When measured over the 8 hour working day, is exposure above 80 dB (A)? (the lower action threshold)
4. Are there any ear protectors available for workers?
4.1 if so: do the workers use ear protectors?
4.2 Are the ear protectors appropriate to the noise levels?
5. Do workers or their representatives receive adequate information /training concerning:
5.1 the potential risks to their hearing, arising from noise exposure?
5.2 the obligation to comply with protective and preventive measures, in accordance with national legislation?
5.3 the excess level of noise and the measures taken to reduce the noise values?
5.4 The need for hearing protection and how to wear it / look after it?
6. Are hearing tests undertaken?
6.1 Are hearing tests undertaken before employment?
6.2 Are there any reports available with regard to these check ups?
7. Are there appropriate safety signs with regard to the need for hearing protection use?
8. Has the employer taken any measures to reduce noise emissions at source?
8.1 Are radios kept to a reasonable level?
